Overview
Aurora Eccles School based in Quidenham, Norfolk, provides flexible day placements for students aged 7 to 19 years with communication and associated difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and difficulties that create barriers to learning.
Office and classroom reconfiguration and redecoration
Works have consisted of the refurbishment of various office and classroom areas across the school. These have varied from full internal decorations to reconfiguring rooms by installing new stud walls and doors and new computer power circuits.

Refurbishment of Communication Café
Works consisted of the refurbishment of the existing old dated communication café within the main school. Our works consisted of a new kitchen replacement suspended ceilings and lighting, decorations and refurbishment of the outside area.
Within the communication kitchen, it was requested that the design allowed for sufficient worktop space and space for the relevant kitchen appliances.
The outside area from direct access to the communication café was dated and unsafe for students to spend time due to poor access and gas pipework exposed. This area was refurbished by installing a new uPVC access door and provided a boxed seating area for the students whilst protecting the schools gas pipework’s ensuring that the area was safe for use. The area had all new electrical fixtures and fittings and we issued Electrical Installation Certificates.
Refurbishment of Boys Changing Rooms
Works consisted of the installation of new stud walls and fire doors to provide kitchen storage areas and changing room storage facilities. These works consisted of new timber stud walls, plastering works, electrical works, full decorations and flooring to the required areas.
Refurbishment of the Girls shower rooms
Works consisted of the refurbishment of the old buildings stainless steel cladded shower room that was unusable by the students. Aspect stripped this room back to the core and refurbished the complete room to provide sufficient showers for the girls to use. A new door was also formed to provide access to the girls’ toilet and changing room area.
Emergency supplies for temporary kitchens
We were requested to help the school mobilise for the installation of a temporary kitchen and dining room due to the schools existing kitchen within the white house being placed out of action for H&S reasons.
Aspect ensured that the correct 3 Phase power supplies and drainage and mains water supplies were made available ready for connection to the new temporary units installed by others following the Christmas break. Supplies were installed tested and commissioned in time for the return of the students after the Christmas holidays.
External works for new class base units
Various groundworks have been requested for the installation of new class base units. These works have consisted of new foundations and pathways for these building including new electrical supplies and external cladding to the perimeter of the class units and new picket fencing. Access ramps have also been constructed to provide safe access for the students from the main pathways to the doors of the raised class base units. Drainage and new IT ducts have also been main parts of the works to facilitate the services that the school requires within the class base units.
Roofing Works
Various pitch and flat roof works have been requested across the school site. These works are ongoing but include but are not limited to:
- Technology block – flat roof
- Science block – repairs
- Swimming pool block and chimney
- AA Block – flat roof
