Roofing Services Manager

Based at our Wymondham office, this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing business as our Roofing Services Manager. You will already be an experienced manager with a strong background in all types of roofing and its association with building and construction techniques. Essentially, as Contracts Manager you will have day to day control of our roofing services and scaffolding divisions and oversee pre-construction and live projects/ contract delivery ensuring strong customer satisfaction, profitability and the success of business plans in a timely and efficient manner. With a strong track record in delivering successful projects/ contracts by using a wide range of different techniques is essential, alongside exceptional people skills to achieve the highest standards of performance. The right candidate will also need to demonstrate their ability in the field to resolve technical, operational and contractual matters.

Scope & Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Operational accountability for Aspect Roofing Services and Scaffolding Divisions
  • Manage, optimise and monitor performance of staff, labour and sub-contractor resources within the contract/ project activity to achieve the highest productivity and performance standards in all respects, including agreeing rates for labour, materials and plant requirements,
  • Identify and manage the risks to the programme’s successful outcome
  • Work alongside operational and commercial colleagues to build, manage and motivate an effective and cohesive performing team
  • Continually review resources/ delivery solutions with a view to maximising operational capabilities, delivery, efficiencies and bottom line contribution
  • Lead and support employee relations issues on the contracts/ projects so they are managed efficiently and effectively
  • Create a market leading, premier performing division by employing exceptional people
  • Interview/ recruit new team members, trades/ operative personnel, as required. Support the development and growth of staff, trainees and
  • Ensure that all staff are adequately and routinely trained to the required standards of Health, Safety & Environmental best practices and procedures are adhered to
  • Manage and develop relationships through maintaining regular contacts/ projects with relevant/ key clients promoting the company both with internal and external clients/ customers
  • Ensure timely handover of completed properties against programme – Target – ‘Zero’ defects at handover
  • Coordinate joint handovers/ audits with clients/ customers
  • Liaise with client/ customer representatives as required on day to day issues
  • Develop new and unique ways to improve operational delivery and service offering to create new business opportunities
  • Continually look for ways to increase customer satisfaction, whilst maintaining the company’s commercial performance
  • Produce progress reports and KPI data against the programme and operational delivery reports at regular intervals to the Directors/ Operations Manager and onward communication to clients/ customers
  • With an incessant hunger for growth and improved service, proactively seek new business opportunities and foster organic growth with existing clients. Work with Bid Team and contribute to PQQ & ITT submissions
  • Lead from the top down and ensure Aspect’s integrated quality, health, safety and environmental management system is adhered to
  • Innovate and encourage best practice, demonstrating a commitment to continual improvement
  • Undertake other duties as may be reasonably allocated by Directors

Education & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Roofing/ Building Trade background
  • Building Trade/ previous Supervisory/Management role
  • HNC or equivalent in building or surveying qualifications
  • Technically aware of Roofing, Building and Construction techniques and industry regulatory/ statutory compliance requirements
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme card holder (CSCS)
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme qualified (SSSTS)
  • Computer & Smart Phone/Tablet literate
  • Strong multiple Programme and Projects Management/ co-ordination
  • Knowledge of CDM and other Health and Safety regulations
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements

Desirable:

  • Asbestos, Gas & Electrical Statutory compliance
  • Microsoft Excel – Intermediate level
  • Microsoft Word – Intermediate level

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building construction and Roofing construction/ improvement works
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Public, Social, Commercial, Private, New Build Housing sectors using leading best practises and processes
  • Contract/ Site Surveying experience – standard forms of contract, knowledge of schedules of rates/ Framework contracts
  • Organised and efficient Project Management skills
  • Strong Customer Service skills
  • Working to tight/ changing deadlines and multi-tasking
  • A sound understanding of using IT and innovative ICT solutions
  • Scaffolding awareness
